Greenland - the
world\'s largest island is covered by a massive ice
layer. It is a symbol for the Arctic and pure adventure already above the water surface.
A scuba diving
trip to Greenland is an incomparable experience!
Geographically,
Greenland is on the North American continent,
but politically it is under Danish administration.
With a length of 2,650 kilometres and a width of
1,200 kilometres it is mainly covered by
a 2,000 meter thick ice layer. Less than 20% of
Greenland is ice-free - but this area is growing
annually. Experiencing the Arctic and exploring its
fascinating underwater world seems to be an
adventure thus unfortunately, coming
generations may be denied.
Nearly 90% of the
population are Inuit who live mostly in the west of
Greenland. The expedition base is located in the
east, where a much smaller number of Inuit only 100
years ago, met the first Europeans. The region is
extremely thin populated and is considered the
most authentic part of Greenland.
In addition to
fascinating nature and friendly people there are also
social problems and it is a constant fight with the
forces of nature
to live in East Greenland. |
